I went, I saw, I beat faces…

So, between August and September I spent close to three weeks in my home state (which I call lovingly; the newest “NOH8 State”) New York. I was planning on giving a brief recap on my time there but never got around to it. So here is the quick rundown of cool things I did/saw in NY.

• Went to the CosmoMag event (with business partner/ partner in mischief: Monifa Coffee. www.MonifaCoffee.com)
• Went to Juicy Mag event, pulled a beauty rescue mission with majorly limited resources. (also w/ Mo)
• Went an AMAZING Bollywood-style Hindi Pre-Wedding celebration. Just know; the dresses, the dances, the foods and the music were absolutely outstanding and intoxicating!
• Discovered an amazing Cafe in Queens; The Panorama Cafe (www.PanoramaCafe.org). Seriously this place is amazing; great tasting, organic [vegetarian-friendly] food and a really cool and “zen” ambient. I know it’s hard to imagine organic and healthy being tasty but I promise it’s delish by fatty foods standards not as compared to unsalted grass. 
• I saw soo many gorgeous summer flowy dresses!
• Nearly every Kinky-Curly girl (like me) was natural!!! It was beautiful, @ least 3 out of every 5 from what I saw! I saw Fro’s of all sizes, braid outs, twist outs and even a few closely shaven heads… It was quite a sight to see that many girls embracing their natural textures and flaunting what they’ve got!
• Fresh faces with a pop of color on the lips seemed to be the trend. There weren’t many girls [I saw] with dewy skin and glossy lips, instead I saw radiant skin (though not ‘shiny’) and supple lips in matte/semi-matte or luster shades of corals, mauves, reds, oranges and of course pinks. 
• Birds of a feather… Feathers are all the rage in NY, they are worn everywhere and sold everywhere. I, personally, am pleased that this trend has made a comeback!
• I participated in the very first MAACD pictorial pledge shoot, with Mo of course! (More on that at www.MAACDcampaign.org)
